Prof. Dr. Tom Vander Beken graduated in law studies (1991) and criminology (1992) at Ghent University. He became doctor in law and was subsequently appointed as lecturer criminal law at Ghent University (1 October 2000). He teaches the following courses: criminal law, European criminal justice systems, comparative methodology, sports law, criminology of the criminal justice process, deontology and integrity monitoring.
Prof. Dr. Tom Vander Beken is one of three directors of the research group named Institute for International Research on Criminal Policy at Ghent University.
His expertise relates to the study of the criminal justice process.
Together with the research group, he has concluded many European and national research projects, hereby functioning as promoter or partner.
