Prof. Dr. F.C.M.A. Michiels
Lex Michiels is professor in administrative law, in particular enforcement law, at the University of Tilburg since 2005. Previously he was professor in environmental law at the University of Utrecht (2000-2005) and professor in constitutional and administrative law at the Free University of Amsterdam (1992-2000). He studied law school and psychology and graduated in 1987 at the University of Nijmegen . He was chairman of a commission raised by the Dutch government that published the rapport ‘Handhaven op niveau’ in 1998 and he is chairman of the editorial board of the main Dutch administrative law journal ‘AB’. Lex Michiels was a member of the supervision counsel of the Foundation Consultancy Administrative Jurisdiction for the Environment and Regional Planning (1996-2006) and chairman of the Dutch society for administrative law (1999-2007). He published in the domains of environmental law, administrative law, constitutional law, police law and above all, enforcement law.
As from 1 November 2010 Lex Michiels is a member of the administrative section of the Dutch Council of State, for 60% of the time. For two days in the week he remains professor in administrative law at the University of Tilburg.
